A new state is a big change. Your moving plan can start with a few clear answers.

Planning a move out of Fort Worth? Or getting ready to settle here from another state? The first questions aren't about how far the truck will drive. They're about what you're taking, where the truck can load, and when someone can receive your belongings at the other end.

Southwest Van Lines works with households planning interstate moves to or from Fort Worth. Share the route, an honest inventory and the pickup setup, and we'll talk through an estimate and the services that fit your move.

Start with three decisions

Know your destination, your shipment and your dates.

You don't need an item-by-item spreadsheet before your first call. These three answers give the conversation a useful starting point—and show where we need more detail.

01

Where are you going?

Tell us both cities and states. Fort Worth can be your pickup address or the delivery address. The other end must be outside Texas for an interstate move.

02

What's coming along?

Start with your home size, major furniture and estimated boxes. Mention bulky items, fragile pieces or anything that needs disassembly so it doesn't get overlooked.

03

How fixed are your dates?

A closing date, lease end or new-job start can shape the schedule. Let us know what can move and what can't, especially if the destination isn't ready right away.

Fort Worth, address by address

The front door isn't always the loading spot.

A Fort Worth address tells us the neighborhood. Your property details tell us what moving day may actually look like. These are examples of questions worth asking—not claims that every building has the same rules.

Downtown & West 7th

Condo towers and shared loading areas

A managed building may have a designated dock, reserved elevator, insurance paperwork or move-in time slots. Check with the property office before choosing the pickup window.

Near Southside & Fairmount

Older streets, porches and close parking

Some homes have steps, narrow entryways or street parking rather than a long driveway. Photos of the walk from door to truck can help us flag the right questions early.

TCU, Westcliff & Arlington Heights

Family homes with their own access quirks

A garage, side gate or sloped drive may be convenient for a car but not a moving truck. Tell us about large furniture, steep steps and where loading is permitted.

North Fort Worth & Alliance area

Newer communities, gates and HOA windows

Communities with access codes or association rules can require advance notice. Ask about truck entry, approved hours and parking near your unit or driveway.

Where local rules matter: Fort Worth publishes information on residential parking permits and temporary street-use permits. Those programs are not blanket requirements for everyday household moves. If your truck would block a regulated curb, lane or public right-of-way, check the specific location and applicable rules ahead of time.

Build the service around the household

You choose where you want the extra hands.

A long-distance move can be fairly straightforward or involve a lot of packing and coordination. Start with transportation and discuss any extras before the written estimate is finalized. Service options depend on your route and shipment.

Fort Worth interstate moving costs

What should your moving quote account for?

The cost of a move from Fort Worth to another state depends on the shipment and the service—not a single average price for the ZIP code. Ask for a written estimate based on your actual inventory and addresses instead of relying on a generic online number.

01
Shipment size and items

Boxes, furniture, bulky pieces and the amount of handling required are all part of defining the shipment.

02
Origin, destination and distance

Going to New Mexico is a different route from a move to North Carolina. Share the full city and state at each end.

03
Both addresses, not just Fort Worth

A dock reservation, stairs, shuttle need or long carry can matter at the delivery home as much as at pickup.

04
Packing, storage and requested dates

Add the services and timing constraints you actually need before comparing written estimates.

Fort Worth as the origin or destination

Your next address doesn't have to be in Texas.

We focus on moves that cross state lines. Your specific route, shipment size and requested dates still need to be reviewed for availability. Fort Worth can be the city you're leaving or the city you're coming home to.

Nearby pickup and delivery addresses: Along with Fort Worth neighborhoods, interstate shipments may involve nearby communities such as Benbrook, White Settlement, Saginaw, Lake Worth, Haltom City, North Richland Hills, Keller, Haslet or Burleson. Availability must be confirmed for the exact address and route. A move that stays entirely within Texas is outside the service described on this page.

From first call to destination door

Keep four checkpoints on your calendar.

An interstate move takes more than a pickup date. These are practical points to revisit as you prepare; your actual contract and agreed schedule determine the details of the service.

Before booking

Build the inventory

Walk through the rooms and flag furniture, packed boxes, unusual items and access restrictions so your estimate reflects the planned shipment.

After reviewing the quote

Read the documents

Confirm the estimate type, services, valuation choices and pickup/delivery terms. Ask questions while there is still time to adjust the plan.

Before pickup

Clear up access

Check with your landlord, HOA or building manager about truck parking, elevator slots, move hours and any special entry instructions.

Before delivery

Prepare the receiving home

Confirm someone can be present, utilities and access are ready, and there is a practical place for unloading at the new address.

Research the carrier before signing

Check who you're hiring, not just what the ad says.

For an interstate shipment, it's reasonable to verify the legal company record and understand the documents. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration provides public tools and a consumer moving checklist.

Amazing service, very friendly; Ve and his team are professional and experts in the moving industry. I am so happy and pleased with my move. I recommend South West Van Lines to everyone that is looking for the best moving company ever😊❣️
I recently used Southwest van lines for a long-distance move, and I’m overall very satisfied with their service. From the initial booking to the final delivery, the process was smooth and stress-free.
The team was professional, friendly, and handled my belongings with care. They arrived on time for both pick-up and delivery, and the communication throughout the entire move was clear and transparent. I appreciated that they kept me updated on the estimated arrival time of my items, which made the whole process feel less hectic.
There were a few minor hiccups, such as some slight delays during transit, but the team was very responsive when I reached out, and the delay didn’t affect the overall timeline too much. Additionally, my items arrived in excellent condition, and they even helped me reassemble some furniture that was disassembled during the move.
The pricing was reasonable compared to other quotes I received, and considering the level of service and care provided, it was well worth it. I would highly recommend Southwest van lines to anyone planning a long-distance move!

Questions before an out-of-state move

Fort Worth moving questions, answered.

Quick answers for the questions that come up when comparing interstate movers, planning a pickup and getting ready for delivery.

Does Southwest Van Lines offer interstate moving in Fort Worth, TX?

Southwest Van Lines plans interstate household shipments with Fort Worth as the origin or destination, subject to availability for your route and dates. Request an estimate with both states, the inventory and access details.

Do you move people from Fort Worth to another city in Texas?

This page describes household moves crossing state lines. A move entirely within Texas, such as Fort Worth to Austin or Houston, is outside the interstate service scope described here.

How much should I budget for a Fort Worth long-distance move?

It depends on the actual inventory, destination, access, requested dates and added services. A written estimate based on your household goods is more useful than an unverified average price posted for the city.

What information do you need to prepare my moving estimate?

Start with the cities and states at each end, your preferred pickup timeframe, home size and inventory. Mention stairs, elevators, gated entry, parking limits and packing or storage needs at either address.

Can you move me into Fort Worth from another state?

Fort Worth can be the delivery location. Share the origin city and state plus the Fort Worth destination details, including whether you're moving into a managed building, apartment or house.

Can I ask for help packing only part of the house?

Yes, you can ask about full or partial packing options. Describe the rooms or items you would like help with and confirm the available services when reviewing your estimate.

What if my new home isn't ready when the truck gets there?

Bring up the timing gap early. Storage may be an option depending on the route and schedule, but it needs to be discussed and included in the agreed service plan.

Will I need a parking permit for a moving truck in Fort Worth?

Not automatically. Requirements depend on the exact street, parking restrictions and whether the activity needs to occupy or restrict public right-of-way. Check with the building and the City of Fort Worth if normal loading access is unavailable.

Are Downtown Fort Worth apartment moves different from house moves?

They can be. A downtown property may require an elevator reservation, loading dock appointment or approved move hours. A house may have stairs, a long carry or driveway restrictions instead. Share details for both ends of the move.

Can you give me a guaranteed delivery date?

Delivery timing and any specific commitments need to be confirmed for your shipment and written documents. Ask for the applicable delivery window and what happens if the receiving address is not available when delivery is scheduled.

What's the difference between a binding and a non-binding estimate?

A binding estimate sets the agreed charge for the listed items and services, subject to applicable changes or additional services. A non-binding estimate is an approximation and the final charge may vary under the applicable rules. Review the estimate type and written terms before agreeing.

How do I check an interstate moving company's registration?

Search the FMCSA carrier record using the legal company name or USDOT number. Southwest Van Lines LLC uses USDOT 4142008 and MC 1588300. Check the current record and the company identified on your documents.

Which Fort Worth neighborhoods and nearby communities can be involved?

Pickup or delivery may be in Downtown, Near Southside, Fairmount, the TCU area, Arlington Heights, North Fort Worth or nearby communities such as Keller, Saginaw and Benbrook. Each exact address and out-of-state route is subject to availability.

Where are you heading after Fort Worth?

Tell us the two cities and states, what you're taking and when you'd like to move. We'll start with the details that help build a useful interstate moving estimate.
